The figures you enter in calculators
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you type are not sent to our server, not stored, not added to page addresses and not passed to analytics or advertising tools. When you close or reload the page, they are gone.
What is collected
- Server logs. The hosting server records the address of each page requested, the time, the browser type and an IP address. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted on a rolling basis.
- Contact. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to reply and fix what you reported.
- Analytics. Two measurement tools run on this site. They are described in full below.
This site does not currently show advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any ads appear.
Analytics
We use two tools to understand which pages are useful and which are not. Neither of them receives the figures you enter in a calculator.
Our own analytics
The first runs on this server and sends nothing to a third party. It records the page you viewed, the site or search engine you arrived from, any campaign tag in the link, your approximate location, your device type, browser and operating system, and roughly how long the page was open.
It sets no cookies. It keeps a short session token in your browser’s session storage, named itxa_t, which is discarded when you close the tab. Your IP address is not stored, and neither is your browser’s full user agent string. There is no identifier that follows you between visits, so two visits on different days cannot be connected to each other.
It honours the Do Not Track setting in your browser. If you have that switched on, it records nothing at all. It also ignores anyone signed in to the site.
Google Analytics
The second is Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google’s Site Kit plugin. It records the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your device and browser. Google receives your IP address as part of that and uses it to work out approximate location.
It sets cookies in your browser whose names start with _ga. They persist between visits and are used to tell a returning visitor from a new one. This data is held by Google and governed by Google’s privacy policy.
To opt out of Google Analytics on this site and every other, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block the cookies above in your browser settings. Blocking them does not affect anything on this site: every calculator works exactly the same.
Embedded calculators
Calculators embedded on other websites load no analytics or advertising tools from this site, and the figures entered in them stay in the reader’s browser.
Your choices and rights
You can use every part of this site with cookies blocked. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. The only personal data we hold directly is what you send us by email; for that, or any other privacy question, write to usman@itechtics.org. For data held by Google, use Google’s own privacy tools.
Changes to this policy
When the tools on this site change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
